Anyone else glad that 2009 is over?!? Its funny, all the stress the possibility of losing a job (or 2) is gone now and things are going really well! I think that for us, the shift was made in October and we are on the way to gaining ground again.
So I was thinking... When our economy is based on consumerism but the trend now is not to buy/have/accumulate what does that mean for our economy in the future? I am hoping that this is the time where innovation takes over out of a bit of desperation and knowing that we can't continue to do things as before. But will we soon forget the crisis and go back to the status quo? I will not pretend to have the answers here...
Happy New Year everyone! Today's topic is "Plan your work and work your plan."
This new year take a few minutes to document what you want to do this year. Goals, actions and a clear direction can help you be in a better place next year at this time. If you know where you want to be but are unsure of the next steps, find someone to bounce ideas off of. If you feel overwhelmed by the amount of things to do, then break it down and assign deadlines. It helps to work backwards.
For example, last year, my friend Amanda decided to open a coffee shop. She knew all the things she had to do and was feeling stressed. We sat down with a notepad and calendar and we determined an open date for her shop. From there we could list and assign due dates to other things like: ordering product, installation of equipment, purchasing equipment, etc. Her coffee shop has been open since February and she is rockin! Visit her at GrindHouse Coffee!
Last year at this time I decided to do 2 things. Put as much money in savings as possible and buy a new computer. I just had an inkling that I might be looking at unemployment and I was hoping to use that opportunity to be my own boss. Boy am I glad that I had those two things in place!
If you need professional help (LOL) with your business or personal goals, please feel free to give me a call and we can talk about all the awesome things that you want to achieve this year!
